Hawaiian spirulina or fresh-water algae is famous for its blue-green pigment, exotic origin, and myriad of health benefits that put other superfoods to shame. It’s a regular guest in my smoothie recipes given its broad spectrum of phytonutrients, antioxidants and vitamins which join forces to fight cancerous cells, improve digestion, boost immunity and cognitive performance.
It doubles as an equally potent beauty product given its high concentration of chlorophyll, which can reduce the skin’s free radical damage and prevent overgrowth of candida bacteria on the face.
- 1 teaspoon Pure Hawaiian Spirulina
- 1 teaspoon jojoba or sweet almond oil
- 1 drop 100% pure tea tree essential oil
Mix together the ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mask with a paintbrush, careful not to let the staining mixture touch any of your clothing. Enjoy the benefits of the mask for 20 minutes before removing with warm water or coconut oil.
