Giving up refined sugar transforms a simple broiled grapefruit into ambrosia. I like enhancing my meal with a dash of cinnamon and a brush of Manuka honey – a prebiotic used to treat inflammation.
Broiled Grapefruit:
- 1 grapefruit (conventional is fine given its exterior)
- Manuka honey (optional)
- Ground cinnamon
- Optional toppings: coconut yogurt, dry-roasted pistachios, fresh mint
Instructions:
Preheat the broiler. Alternatively, preheat the oven to 500 degrees.
Cut each grapefruit in half and coat the flesh with honey and a dash of cinnamon. Excluding the honey and dry-roasting the fruit will also bring out its smoky mystique.
Broil for 7 minutes, or roast for 10-12 minutes.
