Chia Jam

I confess that I’ve never actually bought jam – not even when I lived in Paris – due entirely to small jars of my mother’s loganberry spread that I used to smuggle with me wherever I went.

Each summer, my parents would painstakingly harvest our berry crop, gingerly wash the delicate fruit, and boil the berries into a thick sugary treat to be poured over homemade vanilla ice cream or balanced precariously atop a warm scone. Truthfully, I never imagined a scenario in which I could no longer indulge in this simple ambrosia straight from paradise’s kitchen.

Although I’ll never be able to fully replicate my mother’s recipe, I’ve tried to mirror its elegant simplicity and maintain its integrity by using only three ingredients – fresh fruit, chia seeds, and filtered water – as a way to honor the beloved memories of my past.


Chia Jam:  

  • 1 cup fresh organic berries 
  • 1 tablespoon organic chia seeds 
  • 1 tablespoon filtered water 


Blend the berries, chia seeds, and water in a Nutribullet or other nutrient extractor until fully incorporated. 

Alternatively, microwave frozen berries, chia seeds and water in a bowl for 15-30 seconds and mash together. 

Store in the refrigerator until ready to consume.
